3. Download a new PDFPages with redactions are rebuilt as image pages so the original content under those areas is not carried into the output.

Permanently remove sensitive information from PDF pages

WorkCal Redact PDF lets you black out personal information, account numbers, addresses, phone numbers, employee IDs and other sensitive content directly in your browser. No account or desktop software is required.

This is designed as real PDF redaction rather than a simple visual overlay. When a page contains a redaction mark, the visible page is rendered into a new image with the selected area covered. The original text and image data from that page is therefore not copied underneath the redaction in the output PDF.

Pages without redaction marks are copied from the original PDF. Only redacted pages are flattened, so text selection, links and form fields may stop working on those pages while untouched pages remain in their original PDF form.

Your PDF is processed locally in the browser and is not uploaded to WorkCal servers. Need to combine files first? Use Merge PDF. To add a company stamp or signature, use Add Stamp / Signature to PDF.

Important security note

This tool permanently removes the selected visual areas on marked pages. Always open and review the downloaded PDF before sharing it. Certificate-based signatures, complex forms and special PDF features may not remain valid after a new PDF is created.

Frequently asked questions

Does this just put a black rectangle over the text?

No. A marked page is rendered into a new image page with the redaction already applied, so the original page text and image content is not left underneath the covered area in the new PDF.

Can I redact account numbers, addresses and personal information?

Yes. Drag over any area you want to remove. You can use black or white redaction for IDs, account numbers, addresses, phone numbers and similar sensitive content.

Can I use this to blur or mosaic PDF content?

For privacy, this tool uses solid black or white permanent redaction instead of blur or mosaic effects, which can leave visual information partially recognizable.

Will text still be selectable on a redacted page?

No. A page containing redactions is flattened into an image page, so original text selection, search, links and form controls on that page may no longer work. Unmarked pages are copied in their original form.

Does the original PDF change?

No. WorkCal creates a new PDF download and does not modify your original file.
